Lately around here...

The holiday season has come to a close. We are back to "normal" busy life. My mom had brain surgery last week and it went amazing! We are so ready to have her home! We thank each of you that prayed and continue to pray for her. We know she still has big things to do here so she was healed!

Over the past week,  we've had so many people in and out of our lives that have really changed things up. We are being pulled a lot of directions right now with obligations. BUT each of those we feel so privileged to be a part of. Busy isn't a bad thing. Yes balance is important, but is the busyness for the good of GOD or for the good of "stuff"? We feel the obligations we are wrapped up in this month are for the good of God. We have chances to serve others this month! So exciting! Back to those we've had in our lives this past week. Those people have all had such encouraging stories to share how they've been Gods hands and feet. Coincidence their encouraging stories were shared this month with us ? I don't think so. How can you serve others this month? Simple things such as providing a meal to a stressed family, listening and couraging someone, sharing your testimony with someone who seems to have lost faith, and praying for specific needs with people. All doable things YOU can do this month. Nothing ( other than the meal) cost a dime. Gods really told us to slow down this month. Really ?? Slow down? But we have all these obligations you've brought to us to help others? It didn't make sense at all until those friends were brought over. The slow down was in daily life with others. We get rushed with our conversations  or distracted with things( cell phones, tvs etc). That's what we need to slow down with! Spending time and paying attention to others has gotten so far away from us. We are a fast paced ME society. We all need to slow down and spend more time together. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone did this? How encouraging to have someone sit, talk, and pray with you daily? How nice to have someone take the time to care, encourage, and help you daily? After all that's what Jesus did right? That's what we are supposed to do, right? Enjoy your obligations that you have been faced with , but try to slow down during each of them and really focus on the people. You never know who may be toying with their faith and NEED to hear a testimony . We've all been challenged with things in our lives where we felt smothered. Sweet earthly angels have rescued us and reminded us to stay strong. As humans we have to encourage others. Remind yourself not to judge others. If they've made bad choices it's not your place to judge. Live your life by example and others will follow. Hate the sin not the sinner. You can't help others with the judging mentality. I don't remember Jesus surrounding himself with perfect people? I remember him surrounding himself with the broken. Don't shun those people away, they need you. I'm excited about our busy month! I'm excited to finally not feel rushed from task to task. I'm excited to think of these task as an opportunity to interact with others. I'm excited to slow down and enjoy others lives!

On another note, my sweet friend that just completed the World Race has such amazing stories! One of the most important things I took from her stories is how joyful people were in other countries. How much they love Jesus! These people have NOTHING! They are faced with some of the hardest things that would test anyone's faith. BUT they stay true to God. Their faith is rock solid! She talked about how much joy was seen in their hearts. Just something to ponder about our society and ourselves.
